Hewitson & Harker are a regulated solicitor’s practice with a history spanning over 100 years, specialising in residential property conveyancing. With 34 employees across two sites in Manchester and Sheffield, reliable and user-friendly systems are important for unifying their business operations.
What problem did they have?
H&H’s move to Wayv coincided with the business relocating from Cumbria. With their previous provider being located further north, the service couldn’t meet the needs of the business for what they required to move forwards in new locations.
Why did they choose Wayv?
Hewitson & Harker looked for a provider who was local to their new sites and could meet their specific requirements across all of them. Despite being tired into a long-term contract, Wayv were able to take over the contract, improve their services, and save them money along the way.

Wayv took over H&H’s outstanding contract, enabling them to access WayvCare support and an improved service, despite already being tied into a long-term contract. In the inherited setup, each employee has a handset, allocated to the relevant main line of the office they’re based in. The Wayv team took the time to understand the business logistics, setting up the phone system for H&H in a way that best benefits them. ‘Hunt’ groups (caller groups, for example for certain departments) and multi-office call ability (allowing calls to bounce through to other sites when necessary), have specifically helped H&H ensure no call is missed across the practice.
When H&H were moving offices in the Sheffield/Rotherham area, the Wayv installation team managed the switch over of services, including the internet lines and IP addresses. In addition, we saved H&H the cost of their existing VPN (Virtual Private Network) which had caused phone line issues, disallowing certain lines and causing dropouts.
Having established that a VPN wasn’t necessary for a practice of their size, and with the necessary security in place, the team installed a new router which has since greatly improved the service for the branch
