From One Story to over £10,000: How the Wayv team came together to support Teenage Cancer Trust

It started with one conversation

When we first began planning our 2026 charity challenge, we knew we wanted to support a cause that truly meant something to our team.

That cause became Teenage Cancer Trust after one of our colleagues shared her own experience of receiving care and support from the charity as a teenager. Hearing first-hand about the difference that support made reinforced exactly why charities like Teenage Cancer Trust matter.

From that moment, there was no question who we’d be fundraising for.

More than just a hike

The challenge itself was ambitious. Our main team committed to taking on the 20-mile Full Peaks Challenge across the Peak District, while another group joined us for a 5-mile route, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to get involved.

But as the weeks went by, we quickly realised this was becoming about far more than one day in September.

A whole company effort

Long before we laced up our walking boots, the fundraising had already begun. As a team, we agreed that everyone would play a part. Whether that meant securing sponsorship, asking friends and family to donate, reaching out to customers, collecting raffle prizes, organising bucket collections or simply sharing our campaign, every contribution mattered.

The support soon snowballed. Customers, suppliers, partners, friends, family and local businesses all got behind the challenge, help It became a true team effort, with everyone contributing in their own way.

Incredible support from our community

One of the most rewarding parts of the campaign was seeing our wider community get behind us.

Customers donated. Suppliers became sponsors. Local businesses generously provided raffle prizes. Friends and family shared our fundraising page, while colleagues volunteered their own time to help make every part of the campaign a success.

To everyone who supported us in any way, thank you. Your generosity helped turn an ambitious fundraising target into something far beyond what we thought possible.

Challenge day

The alarms went off early for a 6:30am start, with the weather app being refreshed more times than we’d like to admit on the drive to Castleton, all in the hope that the rain might somehow disappear.

The day began with a blustery climb up Mam Tor, before taking on Back Tor and Lose Hill. As we reached the ridgeline, the skies opened and our waterproofs were put to the test. Despite the mud, the rain and some rather questionable footing, only one of us actually slipped – a result we’ll happily take.

Reaching the halfway point overlooking Edale felt like a real milestone. At this time of year, the Peak District is covered in purple heather, and, despite the weather, the views were nothing short of spectacular. To keep spirits high, our playlist did its best to match the occasion, with classics like Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, 500 Miles and Walking on a Dream providing the soundtrack for the day. Safe to say there was a theme.

After crossing Kinder Scout and Lord’s Seat, the weather had one final challenge in store. The wind picked up to around 55mph, making our steep descent down Winnats Pass even more memorable. Let’s just say it wasn’t for the faint-hearted.

Ten hours, twenty miles and plenty of laughs later, we crossed the finish line together. Tired, muddy and windswept, but incredibly proud of what we’d achieved – not just individually, but as a team.

Together, we raised over £10,000.

When we first set ourselves a fundraising target of £3,000, we never imagined we’d more than triple it. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, partners, suppliers, friends, family and colleagues, we raised £5,249. As promised, Wayv matched the first £5,000 donated, bringing our final fundraising total to an incredible £10,249 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

While the total is something we’re incredibly proud of, what stands out even more is the community that came together to make it happen. Every donation, raffle prize, sponsorship, social share and word of encouragement played a part in the success of the campaign.

Thank you

To everyone who donated, thank you for believing in our challenge and supporting such an important cause.

To our sponsors – Grenke, Gamma, Yeastar, Gripple and Vision CCTV – thank you for your generosity and for helping us maximise the impact of our fundraising. To the businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes, thank you. Your support played an important part in the success of the campaign. To everyone who shared our fundraising page, liked a post, left a comment or encouraged us along the way, thank you for helping us reach people we never could have reached on our own.

And finally, thank you to every member of the Wayv team. Whether you took on the 20-mile challenge, joined the 5-mile walk, helped organise the event, collected donations, secured sponsorship or worked behind the scenes, this achievement belongs to all of you.

This challenge was about far more than completing a hike. It was about coming together behind a cause that means so much to our team – and we’re incredibly proud of what we achieved together.

Looking ahead

While the Full Peaks Challenge may be over, we hope this is only the beginning of our relationship with Teenage Cancer Trust. We’re already exploring ways we can continue supporting the charity in the future and look forward to building on everything we’ve achieved together.

Thank you once again to everyone who played a part in this campaign. Together, we proved what’s possible when a community comes together behind a cause that truly matters.
