J Parkinson & Sons (JPS) are independent funeral directors with over 150 years in business. Based out of Rotherham, the 6th-generation firm runs two sites with decades of experience assisting families through bereavement. They partnered with Wayv in January 2024, streamlining their various service and hardware contracts into one – all while saving money overall.
JPS have a rich history of providing personal services to local people in Rotherham and the surrounding area. Warren (5th generation of the Parkinson family) was impressed from the first face-to-face consultation with Wayv.
One of the factors that encouraged the move was the ability to easily link both sites’ phones on the Wayv system. They now benefit from not only a shared internal calling system, but also the ability to transfer and share calls smoothly across their two sites.
Having already identified the need for new hardware, Warren also saw the benefit to bringing handsets, the phone licenses and broadband into one place – and one bill. Now combined with their Wayv contract, they’re also paying less overall as well as having a streamlined payment.
Due to its nature, the business operates a 24-7, 365-day on-call service, so the flexibility enabled by the iPECS system across different devices has been a great benefit for JPS. Moving from a manual divert system to an app-based system required some training, but after getting used to it, Warren described it as ‘a doddle’! JPS receive contact fairly evenly across phone and email at the moment, although email is becoming more popular, especially for outbound communications such as sharing documentation, making WiFi more important.
Warren commented:
“When we were looking at moving providers, we needed someone we could trust. The Wayv team have been really helpful, even going out of their way to give us advice, for example alerting us to abnormal charges and helping us avoid elevated bills.”
Other features of the system that they benefit from include voicemail-to-email, which brings voicemails directly to their inbox, and on-hold marketing which updates callers with relevant plan information and other notices.
