Who are they?
Metoni Logistics are a multi-modal logistics company based in Sheffield. They work primarily with UK-based SMEs, supporting both national and international logistics. Metoni partnered with Wayv in October 2024 for their phone system, broadband and managed IT services.
What problem did they have?
It was the business mobile contracts ending which prompted Metoni to have the initial meeting with us.
However, when we met, they recognised the benefits of having all their services with one provider. Metoni’s business mobiles, handsets, broadband and managed IT Services are now pooled together, streamlining their billing.
Why did they choose Wayv?
Metoni’s previous IT service provider was based in Southampton and Metoni were keen to have a local supplier who could deal with changes or issues quickly and efficiently due to proximity. Having looked into local suppliers, they then chose to combine all their services.
What key benefits has the Wayv system brought?
- On-site secure server with remote access
- Backup server in place with us
- Upgraded to FTTP (fibre to the premises) for a reliable, secure connection
- Quick-dial direct line to WayvCare team
More details about Metoni & the Wayv solution
While Metoni were happy with their IT services when we met, their previous provider was based in Southampton – a significant distance away. Steve explained that disruption to customs clearances can hold up border crossing, and cost hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds. Opting for a local provider therefore meant that, in the instance of IT issues holding up vehicles, it would be much quicker to have any problems rectified.
In addition to organising transportation, Metoni act as customs agents for their clients. HMRC legislation requires documentation to be retained for seven years – making secure, sufficient storage a top priority for the firm. To achieve this, they have an on-site server in place which allows for mass data storage, and also have a backup in place with us.
As Metoni work with agents around the world, reliable connectivity is important – in a typical day staff could be liaising with agents in the Far East in the morning, and America in the afternoon. When we took over their broadband contract, we upgraded them to FTTP which gives a more reliable, secure connection.
We work with many clients across the transportation and logistics industry to keep them – and their goods – moving.
